See a movie, save a horse

“Blinders” is a documentary that uses hidden cameras and interviews to show the plight of New York City carriage horses.

The movie screens at 5:30 tonight at the Danbury Public Library (downstairs, look for the CT Film Festival signs).

UPDATE: I ran into the director outside Danbury Library a few minutes ago. The doc is about 52 minutes long and he’ll take questions at the end, assuming people show up . . . so get out there!

Tickets are $7.

Immediately after the screening, a fundraising reception will be held at Tuscano  at 275 Main St. Money will go to Equine Angels, an equine rescue organization.

There is no charge for the reception but donations are accepted.

I haven’t seen it, but it looks interesting, judging from this trailer:

PS: My one and only horse-drawn carriage ride was through Central Park, after my junior prom in 1990. It was dark, smelly and the folks meandering around Central Park at the time were like “Dawn of the Dead” zombies.
