DANBURY—”Radio Cape Cod”–a charming, multi-generational quartet of love stories that celebrates Woods Hole’s iconic main street, pristine beaches and world-famous science—screens May 21st at 5:30 pm at the Palace and May 24th at 6:00 pm at the Heirloom Arts Theater (next door to the newly renovated Palace Theater) in Danbury, Connecticut.

 

In his latest release, Boston filmmaker Andrew Silver seamlessly weaves together science, nature and human relationships while featuring original new songs by Berklee College and New England Conservatory musicians. The film, which won “best cinematography” at the 2008 All-American Film Festival, showcases Cape Cod’s natural environment with evocative clarity.

 

The story of a visiting radio journalist who falls in love with an intense young scientist is played out against a backdrop of couples in different stages of relationships. Two teens caught between romance and friendship, a pair on the eve of their wedding and a couple of divorcees who still enjoy each other’s company are among the appealingly quirky characters whose lives we follow on this five-day, feel-good summer journey.

 

Ethereally lovely British actress Tamzin Outhwaite (best known as Melanie Healy in the BBC soap opera “EastEnders,” with a cameo in Woody Allen’s “Cassandra’s Dream”) plays Jill, who spends the summer in Woods Hole with her teenage daughter Ana, working for public radio.

 

Jill’s interview with an intense young oceanographer named Sunday, played by British actor and musician Olatundem (OT) Fagbenle (from the NBC series “Quarterlife”), evolves into a friendship and romance, to her daughter’s disapproval. Ana, played by Tamzin Merchant (Georgiana Darcey in “Pride and Prejudice”) struggles with her own feelings about her romantically challenged friend Virgil.

 

Virgil is played by Silver’s son, Julian, who is in real life a senior at Roxbury Latin School and a 2006-2008 member of the Mayor’s Youth Council in Boston. The Heirloom Arts Theater located at 155 Main Street in Danbury, Connecticut is located at the end of the Palace Walk Alley, next door to the Palace Theater.
