The Super Bowl is today. I don’t care. If you’re like me, here are some alternative viewing suggestions.
The movies are available through OnDemand for Comcast customers.
“Appaloosa” (2008): Western fans rejoice! Ed Harris stars and directs this simply told oater about an old-school gun for hire and his weirdly quiet sidekick (Viggo Mortensen). Together they take on evil landowner/rising political star Jeremy Irons.
It’s a quirky character study, with shades of “The Ballad of Cable Hogue.” Don’t view it expecting any “3:10 to Yuma” action set pieces.

“Hellboy 2: The Golden Army” (2008): Thoroughly entertaining popcorn flick that’s not as dumb as, say, “Spiderman.” If ever there was a guy born to play a role, it is Ron Perlman as Hellboy.

“Man on Wire” (2008): A documentary about obsessive tight rope walker Philippe Petit, who, for reasons known only to Philippe and his accomplices, snuck into the World Trade Center in 1974, tied a wire to both towers, then walked across. You will not be able to stop watching this movie.
