The Fango show is June 5, 6 and 7 (2009).
This blog will try its darndest to keep you up-to-date with live posts and video all weekend. I’m getting to the Javits Center early Friday with Brian Spears, so follow me on Twitter and I’ll try to post about parking rates and other travel-pertinent crapola.
Some thoughts:
Creation Entertainment sent out the convention’s program this evening. I uploaded it here.
If you go to page 8 of said document, you’re treated to a map.
East Coast Fangos grew a little monotonous in recent years at the Crowne Royal Point Break Plaza in Secacus (yeah, I can’t spell it, but I didn’t name it, either).
Basically you had two rooms in Jersey — the dealer’s room (Internet has made it much smaller than 15 years ago) and the panel room. A long hallway connected the two. A bar/restaurant was 100 yards away.
This year’s Fango is in Hall 1D, the first floor, I assume, at the Javits Center.
That particular space is 30,000 square feet and holds a maximum of about 3,000 people, according to Javits.
It’s not the biggest subdivision in there (the place is a town, with several spaces able to handle 4,000 to 5,000), but it’ll be cool to have the whole show in one place, instead of stretching through a narrow hotel complex.
WIFI: Available at Javits, but for a price.
FOOD: Plenty of food courts, but pricey, according to every lame-ass whiny Comic Con commenter on Yelp. I believe there are 22 “permanent” food places in there, but I’ve read that some open based on how many people are in Javits on a given day.
DRINK: There’s a full service bar on the mezzaine level. Where the hell that is and whether it will be open is anybody’s guess.
WHERE I’LL BE: Since I’m shadowing G&S Effects in the name of new media journalism, you’ll find my tired butt parked at table 14, allegedly next to James Marsters (I don’t know him, but chicks dig him) and the Creation Entertainment table. At least that’s what it looks like according to that map I posted.
