Just received this in the ol’ mailbag today:

Brookfield Arts Commission Unveils First Annual Brookfield Film Festival

Brookfield, Connecticut (February 13, 2009) – The Brookfield Arts Commission is proud to present the first annual Brookfield Film Festival, to be held April 4th and 5th, 2009. The annual festival has been created to cultivate appreciation for independent filmmaking and to provide a local screening opportunity for residents to view independent films. This year’s festival entitled, “Shorts and to the Point,” will focus on the short film genre, featuring a selection of shorts which have won awards at prior festivals.

Brookfield Film Festival curators will select award-winning shorts from the Manhattan Short Film Festival, the Kent Short Film Festival and the Connecticut Film Festival (specific film selections will be announced at a later date). The selections will be showcased in two screenings, 2:00pm and 7:30pm, on Saturday April 24, at the Brookfield Theatre for the Performing Arts, located at Whisconier Rd (Route 25) in Brookfield.

Other highlights of the festival will include an Educational Program of Digital and Video Production classes to be held at the Brookfield High School & Brookfield Craft Center on Sunday, April 5th, as well as lunch and dinner specials for festival attendees from participating local restaurants.

Persons interested in volunteering for the festival can call Mary Daniel, Chairman of the Brookfield Arts Commission, at 203.740.9290.
